Puerto Pirámides- Valdés peninsula

What I’m learning here that distances are huge here. I had  considered going on a tour by minibus over to the Valdés peninsula. However decided against it . It would have been 70 km paved road , 140 km on gravel and a return of 70 km .there would have been two stops one at Punte Norte and ??? . One of lucky could view penguins sea lions and orcas . I was not guaranteed a front seat . A couple of Americans said they went yesterday and saw penguins and sea lions but no orca or whales . So right decision. .

As an aside , Delgado in the Welsh class showed a video a the humpback whale and pup that were in the Nueva Golf ( the sea at Puerto Madryn ). Yet to see it myself but it’s fun looking out in anticipation.

Instead as I’m here and very unlikely to return despite the great experience I’ve had with life , Spanish , welsh countryside . So I’ve got to go to the Valdés peninsula because I’m told how beautiful it is .

I take the 0915 bus and 70 km although on and very very straight Patagonian road . The bus stops at a patrol for foreigners to pay 2800 ( locals 500) £7 v £1.50

On the journey the bus slows for the occasional Guanaco crossing the road . If there a one there’s usually another 20 nearby . Like a thin deer red in colour confident and proud .

Puerto Piramides is indeed a very small village , a clutter of hostels , tours places to eat . A lot of people rent a car and drive here . It’s a beautiful coast blue sea , white cliffs ideal for hiking . On my day it was cool and windy .

Looks great for a backpacking get together away from 100000 puerto Madryn . For me i caught the 1300 bus as the next one was 1800. Every seat taken
