Deportivo Angostura 1 - Los Piedritas 1

Sunday afternoon in Argentina so it must be fútbol.

There was a lot of shouting cheering banging of drums coming from somewhere and I made some enquires and about a mile out of town in a loopy sort of way , I managed to find the game .

The local team Deportivo Angostura playing what seems to be good rivals Los Perdistas. Although there was an hour to go before kickoff there was a healthy atmosphere of drums and

They charged 500 pesos to enter but surrounding the ground there was a mound / hill where was of the locals watched with their deckchairs and mate and beer and coke and Red wine .

No trouble but the police were there with rifle , riot gear and batons .

Stewards were dishing out white streamers and blue and white long balloons .

As the ground was situated a mile from the centro you see a different side to the town . Battered houses , zinc roofs a bit run down but clean and tidy with old battered cars outside .

It was quite windy so a lot of dust swirling around and the game was played on artificial grass , more like matting than plastic .

Some hard tackles going in and some back chat to the referee . A nice atmosphere and I’m glad I trekked out here to see a different Argentina to what I’ve seen before .

I spent the first half in the crowd and the second half I wandered outside where the locals were watching . Similar to watching the Amman behind the wall near the bronx shed .

A dusty walk home feeling good . Back at base by 2000. Bern a good fútbol day . So much for resting . Tomorrow!!!
