Lago Guitierez
This was a fun day . Taking the urban bus 60 out of Bariloche (115 ARP) . I only had just enough for return journey and its job to find a place to recharge the sube .
It took the urban route passing along the way the ferrocarril to Cerro Otto. This is the ski lift to the highest point . Cerro = Hill.
I like how they use the Km as the busstop marker instead of the name . Playa Bonita was at Km 5.5. Horse riding at Km 8. The busstop are painted with colours some with pictures of animals or birds . Beautiful .
Generally there's no pavement or cycle track . When I was cycling yesterday the car drivers are quite polite . No aggressive hooting just waiting till I pull aside to the gravel hard shoulder .
You can't beat the views from an urban bus . Bike , taxi or rental would not have come on this route and had glimpses of local shops , small malls and eating places .colourful bus stops ,
Driving up to the lake the road turns from cement to gravel but is still the main route .
Been tipped off about the los calcadas (waterfalls ) . It was a 2 km walk along the lake until we came to an area of sunbathing and kayaking . A nearby campsite just a further 500m away . There are no shops for food , the occasional horse box for snacks .
The Welsh waterfalls knock spots off these but the dusty walk through tree roots and a steady climb made it quite pleasant accompanied by a steady flow of walkers .
On my return followed the path upwards and onwards to the mirador . What a smashing view of the árboles (trees) and blue lakes . Definitely the pano setting of the camera required .
Hiking back down to the painted parada to wait for the bus with another 4 which grew to a bus full of passengers all knew their order in the queue.
Full bus on return which took some kind of detour to town . Decided to get off before it left the town's outskirts . What a bonus . Found a kiosco to charge my sube card and an electrical shop to buy an Argentina plug . Whoppee can charge my camera battery tonight . It's lasted 7 days .
Finally as it's on the outskirts a nice cafe with home cooked thin steak with agua del grifo all for 3000 arp. £9.
Time to rest my weary back and apply some expensive ibuprofen cream .
